Sewing Classes

We offer a full range of sewing classes to suit all levels – beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. Each level is geared toward the desired objectives of each individual and the complexity of the sewing needs.

Class sizes will vary but are currently restricted to 4 students per class for group classes as we want you to get the most out of your classes. We closely work with our students at their own pace. There is no rush to move on to the next lesson as we want our students to be masterful and comfortable before moving on. We will not take off the training wheels and let you fall!

All sewing classes are three hours per session. Price listed is for one class (tax not included)

FAQ

Class/Workshop Cancellation / Refund Policy

100% of the class/workshop cost is non refundable. Should Make Sew Create cancel a class or workshop there will, however, be a full refund.

Should you have to cancel your enrollment in a class/workshop we require a minimum notice of 48 hours before the start date of the class that you will be unable to attend.

– If you have given us the proper notice, then 100% of the fee you paid can be used as a credit toward future class/workshops

– Credits are valid for 1 year from the date of the the class/workshop cancellation

If you cancel within the 48 hour window but prior to the class start, there will be a $25 fee. We will do our best, in this case, to schedule one make-up class, when necessary, but it may not be possible in every circumstance. In either case there will be no refund.

There will be no refunds or store credits for students who drop out or do not show up for their class/workshop.

Please note that it is your responsibility to attend your classes and arrive on time.

Which Sewing Machine Will I be Using in Class?

As each sewing machine and manufacturer have different complexity of machines, learning on your own machine is the best way to get up and sewing quickly. If you have your own sewing machine and, if feasible, please bring it along to your class so that you can learn how to use the functions specific to your machine in class and bring them home to practice.

We do have different models in our classes so if you do not yet have one or plan on upgrading you can use ours in the interim.

What’s included in the price?

Group Classes:
Each group class session fee covers 3 hours of instruction.
Note that it is estimated that a student would require approximately 3 to 10 group class sessions of 3 hours each (3 hours is the minimum), to achieve each level.

For example,
Beginner Level 1 (BL1), would need 9 to 30 hours of group instruction.
Beginner Level 2 (BL2), would need 9 to 30 hours of group instruction.
Beginner Level 3 (BL3), would need 9 to 30 hours of group instruction.
For a total of 27 hours to 90 hours to complete the Beginner level.
E.g., Minimum registration quantity for Beginner Level 1, is for 3 sessions = $255.00 + hst = $288.15, then additional fees for additional sessions as needed.

For students without sewing machines or those who prefer not to bring theirs, machines are provided (subject to a $50 damage deposit at registration*). Material and supply costs are typically extra and can be paid for during the class. As students progress and work on specific projects, materials and supplies needed may vary, and therefore are not included in the class fee (some basic items might be included).

How Many Sessions in the Beginner Level?

While each level is customized to the individual’s skill level, we typically recommend around 10 sessions per level (10 sessions x 3hrs each session = 30 hrs) to advance to more complex sewing techniques. However, progression varies based on initial skill level and personal goals (advance payment of 3 sessions per level minimum). We work closely with each student to help them achieve their objectives and develop the skills they desire. There are no exams or graduations—just the satisfaction of learning new skills and sewing what you want!
